What is Neksium 20mg Tablet?

 Neksium 20mg Tablet contains Esomeprazole 20mg is used in the treatment of Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. It helps to give relief from acid-related indigestion and heartburn. It works by decreasing acid secretion in the parietal cells of the stomach. It should be taken on an empty stomach preferably in the morning. Avoid spicy, fatty and caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee and soft drinks.

Peptic ulcer disease


It is a disease caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria. It causes gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. H.Pylori bacteria mainly affects the lining of the stomach and has less effect on acid secretion. Esomeprazole with an antibiotic combination is used to treat this condition.


Zollinger-Ellison syndrome


It is a condition where tumours form in the pancreas and duodenum. These forming tumours secrete gastrin hormone, which in turn causes more acid secretion in the stomach. Esomeprazole is used to treat acid suppression in the stomach due to tumours.


Erosive esophagitis


The swelling of esophagus (the muscular tube that helps food moves from the throat to the stomach) is called Esophagitis. It is caused due to excess acid production back flow from stomach to esophagus, resulting in a condition called Erosive esophagitis; it should irritate, and damages the lining of the esophagus. This medicine is used to treat this acid suppression in the stomach.


Indication


This medicine is prescribed for the treatment of Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. It helps to give relief from acid-related indigestion and heartburn. It works by decreasing acid secretion in the parietal cells of the stomach.


Neksium 20mg should be taken one hour before the meal. Better to take on an empty stomach as prescribed by the doctor. It should be swallowed the whole tablet at once. Do not chew, crush and break it.
