What is Frext 100 mg Tablet?
Frext 100 mg Tablet is an antidepressant medicine that contains Fluvoxamine. It is used in the treatment of depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (also known as OCD, it is a mental condition in which the person has re-occurring and uncontrollable thoughts, causing an urge to perform some tasks over and over again). Frext 100 mg Tablet works by increasing the level of a chemical substance in the brain and helps to relieve the symptoms of depression and OCD.
Frext 100 mg Tablet may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, difficulty in sleeping, and fatigue. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration or worsen. It may also cause dizziness or sleepiness. Hence, avoid performing activities that require mental alertness, such as driving vehicles or operating machines. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it.
Frext 100 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine. It may be taken with or without food as directed by your doctor. Avoid taking more or less than the recommended dose. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own even if you feel well, as it may revert your symptoms. When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking Frext 100 mg Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are a class of medicines used to treat depression. Frext 100 mg Tablet is not recommended for use during treatment with MAOIs (Rasagiline, Selegiline, etc.) as it may cause serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome is a life-threatening condition characterised by hallucination, high heart rate, high blood pressure, dizziness, excessive sweating, high fever, seizures, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc.
After stopping the treatment with MAOIs, a time gap of at least 14 days should be maintained before starting the treatment with Frext 100 mg Tablet.
